Something to Say

Something to Say

Giving young people a powerful creative voice before the justice system gives them a record.

Overview

Something to Say is aimed at young people engaged in anti-social behaviour or criminality, or at risk of taking that path. We work with young people who have disengaged from education, are involved with youth justice, or are in care or on the edge of care.

Who It's For

Young people aged 14–25 who are engaged in, or at risk of, anti-social behaviour or criminality — including those in care, those involved with youth justice services, and young people facing significant challenges.

What It Involves

Using theatre, film and performance, young people over 12 weeks explore their own experiences and create work that has genuine meaning to them. The Anonymous Space gives them the safety to be honest. The creative process gives them a reason to show up.

Outcomes

  • Re-engagement with education or training
  • Reduced anti-social behaviour
  • Improved relationships with peers and authority figures
  • Greater sense of agency and self-worth
  • New pathways to employment in the creative industries
